Abide Care Homes isn’t just a business—it’s a calling to love and care for others well. Sometimes the path you’re meant to take unfolds in ways you could never plan. That’s how Abide Care Homes began.

I met Bill, our President, serendipitously at a local fundraiser. I had just completed my Master of Public Health and gerontology research and was prayerfully considering my next steps. Bill, a retired business owner and lifelong people person, shared about his family’s experiences in various long-term care communities, most of which had been unsatisfactory. He told me he wanted to start a home that would do things differently and that he was looking for someone to help lead it.

That conversation stayed with me. Over the next several months, Bill and I continued to talk, dream, and pray about what this could become. I had been working with older adults for more than a decade as an occupational therapy clinician, but I wanted to transition into a role where I could have a greater impact on the day-to-day care older adults experience, while still drawing on my OT knowledge. Bill brought the vision, business experience, and heart for people that would help make that dream a reality. Together, we set out to create something that could help change the direction of elder care, one home at a time.

We chose the Union County area because it’s underserved in its options for quality assisted living and memory care. Both Bill and I live nearby, and we wanted to be a benefit to the community where we do life. When we found the house that will become our first, The Abide at Wesley Chapel, we knew it was the right place. The quiet neighborhood, the screened porch overlooking the yard, and the peaceful setting all reflected what we wanted our residents to feel—belonging, safety, and comfort.

Our prayer is that every person who walks through our door's experiences that same sense of peace and purpose. Abide Care Homes isn’t just a business; it’s a calling to love and care for others well. - Amy Money
